IEMTA LAUNCHES NEW WEB SITE
It's here...It's REALLY here!
After years of having a simple home page which was usually "Under Construction" or contained minimal information, the IEMTA has a new and expanded web site which incorporates many features designed to better serve the needs of our members and the Illinois EMS community. There will likely be a few glitches to resolve, and the structure will continue to expand, evolve and be refined - such is the nature of web sites - but a long awaited and much needed means of communication is now here.
Your Board of Directors couldn't be happier, and we hope you like the results of our efforts!
Please have a look around and become familiar with the site. As nominations for the annual Robert Stripp Award for Lifetime Achievement in EMS and the Luann Acuncius Excellence in EMS Education Award need to be submitted by February 1st, I'd particularly like to call your attention to the Award Nomination Form on the Applications & Forms page; please make use of this should you have a deserving person to recommend. You'll also see that there is a section for news specific to each of our eight Regions; if there is anything interesting or important going on in your Department or Service please let us know so that it can be included. Finally, the site includes a number of methods for getting in touch with the Association and the individual Directors; please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any comments, thoughts, ideas or just want to say hello. Effective communication is one of the keys to organizational strength and is something we're always trying to improve; the new web site is another step in that improvement process.
A happy, healthy and prosperous New Year to you all!
Paul Rasch
THE IEMTA MONITOR

JANUARY 2007 EDITION
WE HAVE A WEBSITE!!!!
The Association is pleased and proud to announce the release of our official website!!! The Association has had a website in the past, but it was “Under Construction” for several years. Director Paul Rasch took the bull by the horns so to speak and undertook the venture to update and relaunch IEMTA.com. The Association also holds the addresses of .org and .net. Right now, entering any of these addresses will take you to the website. Thanks for all your hard work Paul!!! Please look it over and tell us what you think. The Board feels this addition will be a great tool to help the growth of the Association. Currently, copies of the membership application, awards application, and seminar application are part of the site. Issues of The Monitor will be posted several weeks after our members receive theirs. Please take advantage of this great move forward!!!
SEMINAR NEWS
April 13, 14, & 15 is right around the corner. Have you made your reservations yet? Pamphlets regarding the Seminar are out so you can see what the Board has in store for this year. If you know you are already going and really don't need to know who will be there, visit the website at www.iemta.com and print up a registration form and send it on in!!!!
FROM THE NATIONAL SCENE
Speaking about the seminar, this year, several members of the Board from the National EMT Association will be enjoying the festivities in Springfield with the IEMTA. IEMTA member, Bob Loftus, Secretary of NAEMT, will be there in a booth touting the new EMS Museum, of which he is a key element in its creation. There is a rumor that NAEMT President Jerry Johnston will be there, if for no other reason than to give IEMTA President Augie Bamonti, Board of Directors NAEMT, a tough time just for fun. We look forward to welcoming our guests and are anxious to hear what is happening in our profession on the national level.
NEW PARAMEDIC TEST RELEASED
IDPH has released the latest version of the Paramedic State licensing test. At one of the test sites, it is rumored that a fair number of test-takers were seen shrugging their shoulders and shaking their heads as they walked out. Post-test anxiety or a sign??? Stay tuned for further developments.
PRESIDENT CALLS FOR THE FORMATION OF 3 COMMITTEES
IEMTA President, Augie Bamonti, has called for the formation of 3 new committees to help the growth of the Association. “Ideally, I'd like to see 4 to 8 active members in each committee,” Bamonti said. Members can sit on more than one committee if desired. The new committees called for are: 1) Membership Committee - The purpose of this committee is to determine ways to help the Association increase it's membership. 2) Liaison Committee - Work with resource hospitals, teaching institutions, and other EMS advocates on ways the Association can help the profession of EMS in Illinois. 3) Strategic Planning Committee - This committee will set the course of the Association in the years to come. This important committee will devise a plan for growth and present it to the Board for approval. Anyone interested in participating on any committee should contact Augie Bamonti at iemta@yahoo.com, or bamonti@aol.com.

NOVEMBER 2006 EDITION
HOLIDAY GREETINGS!
As the holidays approach, the Board of Directors of the Association wish safe, happy, and blessed holidays to all the members of our EMS family here in Illinois. It is through your hard work, diligence, and compassion that many individuals throughout the State are here to celebrate with their families. Feel proud about that!!! While we should never forget our young men and women overseas, it is especially important during this time of year when those serving cannot be home with their loved ones as we are. If you know of someone serving overseas who will not be home for the holidays, please let us know. Send us the name, and address (regular or email) of the individual(s). Send the information to either IEMTA@yahoo.com or to IEMTA P.O. Box 3151 Springfield, IL. 62608.
SEMINAR NEWS
The annual IEMTA Seminar is rapidly approaching!!! Have you made your reservations at the Northfield Inn yet? The dates of the Seminar are April 13, 14, & 15. The phone number for the Northfield Inn is 217-523-7900. Registration forms for the Seminar itself will be sent out early in 2007. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough positive response to host a moulage program on Thursday, however, the Board promises this will be another great program with lots to learn, lots to participate in, and most importantly, lots of fun to be had by all. If you have any suggestions about the Seminar, please feel free to send them on to either of the above addresses. This is YOUR seminar, and the Board wants to make it not only the best it can be, but what YOU want see and hear!
UPDATE ON TESTING IN ILLINOIS
Board Member Vicki Gallaher has been hard at work for the past several weeks gathering information on where the State is on the testing issue for the various levels of training. IDPH has chosen Connie Mattera to spearhead the program to develop the tests for the various levels. This will be accomplished by each system appointing two delegates to meet over the course of time to determine how the tests will be written, by whom, and who will deliver the tests. This issues effects all of us through all levels of training and is probably one of the most important issues to be brought forth in the past several years. We will keep you updated on any progress or decisions made. If you are part of this process, please let us know as the Board feels it is VERY important we participate in some way and have our voice heard. The Board will be considering a position paper on this topic and any input from the membership would be greatly appreciated.
